Formula and use

RPM = 1000 × Vc ÷ (π × D)

Feed rate (mm/min) = feed per revolution × RPM

L/D ratio = hole depth ÷ drill diameter

Use toolmaker data for specific materials and drill geometries. If the calculated RPM exceeds the machine limit, RPM is capped and actual cutting speed drops — reduce feed or check tool life.
